About Leadership Illinois
Leadership Illinois is a unique professional development opportunity for women who have distinguished themselves as leaders in their professional fields and civic endeavors. The program offers an annual conference series to current class members, along with significant networking and additional educational opportunities for alumnae and members.
The Program
Class members participate in three, multi-day conferences throughout the year-long program. The conferences, entitled Power of Government, Power of the Individual, and Power of the Marketplace are interconnected through the focus on leadership and the opportunities for positive change. Presentations emphasize discussion, rather than a lecture format. The participants move through each session as a group making each topic a building block for the next.
Participants
Candidates for Leadership Illinois must demonstrate leadership achievements in the private, public or volunteer sectors of their community. Participants will be selected in such a manner as to create a class that is balanced along ethnic and geographic lines, as well as political, business and volunteer experience.
The Process
Leadership Illinois will accept applications beginning November 1st of each year. Applications must include three letters of recommendation for consideration. The class will be selected by the Nominating Committee and approved by the Leadership Illinois Board of Directors at its March meeting. New class members will be notified by telephone shortly after that meeting. Upon Board approval, new class members must register for all three sessions. To request an application or more information, please contact Cindy Deadrick, Program Director, at info@leadershipillinois.org.
